Olympus in conjunction with Mason Technology ran a Module of the MSc Imaging and Microscopy programme in UCD. The module was a practical hands course in the assemble and alignment of wide field and confocal laser based microscopes. The module ran from Feb 27th 2012 to March 2nd 2012 in conjunction with the Conway Institute and the School of Biology & Environmental Science. Feedback from the course was very positive

Mason Technology and Olympus were delighted to sponsor the Masters course. We provided a week of hands on practical microscopy experience. The students enjoyed assembling an Olympus FV1000 Confocal Microscope and looking at the internal workings of the system. They also learnt to assemble and disassemble high end widefield imaging systems and to set these up for Koehler illumination, Phase contrast, and DIC. In addition they also assembled the filter sets and practised with manual and motorised systems. Mason Technology would like to thank Dr Florian Eich and Dr. Kai Kuetemeyer from the Olympus Confocal team in Europe for attending this course.
