BX53-P | Upright Metallurgical Microscope

The Evident BX53-P polarising microscope is a powerful tool designed for advanced polarised light microscopy applications in various fields such as geology, materials science, forensic science, pharmaceuticals, and biology.

It provides superb performance in polarised light applications using a combination of UIS2 infinity-corrected optics and a distinctive optical design. An extended line of compatible compensators make the BX53-P microscope versatile enough to handle observation and measuring applications in virtually any field.

BX53-P features

  1. Polarised Light Illumination: The BX53 is equipped with polarized light illumination, allowing researchers to observe and analyse the optical properties of birefringent specimens. The BX53P can visualise optical properties such as birefringence, retardation, and extinction, providing valuable insights into the structure and composition of materials.
  2. High-Quality Optics: The microscope features Olympus’ renowned UIS2 optical system, delivering exceptional image quality with sharpness, clarity, and contrast. High-quality polarising objectives, prisms, and optical components ensure accurate and detailed imaging of samples under polarized light illumination.
  3. Rotating Stage with Graduated Vernier: The BX53 polarizing microscope can be equipped with a rotating stage that allows precise orientation and alignment of specimens with respect to the polariser and analyser. A graduated vernier enables accurate angular measurements, facilitating the examination of crystallographic features and optical properties.
  4. Bertrand Lens and λ/4 Plate: The microscope can be equipped with a Bertrand lens and a λ/4 plate for conoscopic observation, enabling the visualization of optical interference patterns and conoscopic figures. This feature is particularly useful for the characterization of crystal structures, including crystal symmetry, mineral identification, and texture analysis.
  5. Compensators and Filters: The BX53 polarizing microscope supports various compensators and filters for manipulating polarized light and enhancing contrast in microscopy images. Compensators such as quarter-wave plates, full-wave plates, and gypsum plates are used to modify the polarization state and measure retardation values in samples.
