EM Series pumps | EM Oil Sealed Rotary Vane Pumps
Edwards‘ EM Series pumps are rugged, mechanical oil-sealed pumps in a compact and quiet design. Small EM oil-sealed rotary vane pumps are renowned for achieving high ultimate vacuum and rapid pumping speeds with quiet operation and the ability to handle vapour. These pumps have become the industry standard in a range of scientific, laboratory, and light industrial applications, and are the ideal partner for backing your turbomolecular pump.
EM Series Pumps overview
- Quiet operation: For a better working environment.
- Flexibility of use: Freestanding unit compact design.
- Reliable performance: Proven in a range of laboratory and industrial applications over many years.
- Gas ballast valve: Used when pumping vapour.
- Built-in protection systems: The motor is enclosed and cooled by the motor-cooling fan which directs the air along the motor fins. Overheating protection is provided via a thermal overload device which is fitted in the motor and switches off the pump if it gets too hot, this will automatically reset when the motor cools down and restarts the pump. No manual intervention is required.
- Easy to maintain: The O-ring sealed sight glass makes visual inspection of the oil level and conditions simple. The oil drain port is located at the end of the oil box for draining oil out of the pump. A large oil filling port and recess in the top of the oil box top makes oil top-ups easy.

RV Two Stage Rotary Vane Pumps
Edwards RV series of vacuum pumps have become the industry standard with over 400,000 units sold. This success has been based on field-proven design and reliability in a wide range of scientific and laboratory applications and environments.
RV pumps are configured to meet your vacuum needs with a mode selector and 2-position gas ballast that allows either 60 g/hr or a class-leading 220 g/hr (290 g/hr on RV12) of water vapour to be handled. This is ideally suited for your wet pumping applications such as freeze drying, extraction, filtration and gel drying.
These multi-purpose pumps are extremely versatile and perfect for many applications. For safe processes and systems, the built-in anti-suck back protection prevents oil mist from entering your system. The rapid closing inlet valve acts within 0.4 seconds of the pump stopping, providing reliable and safe operation in almost any application and thanks to the use of wide range motors the pump covers a wide range of possible voltage and frequency from two motor variants.
We can also offer an RV to meet your specific requirements including PFPE-prepared and ATEX-approved pumps.
Easy to maintain: the O-ring sealed sight glass makes visual inspection of the oil level and condition simple. The oil drain port is located at the end of the oil box for draining oil out of the pump. A large oil filling port and recess at the top of the oil box top make oil top-ups easy.

EDP Chemical Dry Vacuum Pumps
EDP pumps are based on Edwards’ oil-free, non-contacting, award-winning, reverse claw mechanism. They provide consistent vacuum at high efficiencies and low costs of ownership. Dry pumps completely eliminate all problems of process contamination and creation of polluted effluent, which are experienced with traditional wet vacuum pump technologies.
EDP Chemical Dry Vacuum Pumps Overview
- Designed for safety and reliability: Specifically designed for your harsh chemical operations, the EDP is dynamically explosion-tested and certified by independent authorities. Further checks include leak checks up to 10-3 mbar l/s and type pressure tested from 22 – 75 barg – this is a pump you can rely on in even the harshest environments.
- Ideal pump for chemical application industries: The EDP vacuum pump is temperature controlled for optimised operating conditions – hot for corrosive applications and cool for other gases. Edwards’ design for a short gas path eliminates particulate build-up and corrosion within the pump, giving you reliable performance, year after year.
- Designed for long life performance and stability: The EDP chemical dry vacuum pump is designed for a minimum of 25 years of operation. With one year of unattended operation and three years between strip-downs, the EDP significantly reduces your overall cost of ownership.
- Unique award-winning construction: When you select the EDP chemical dry pump, you also select Edwards’ oil-free, non-contacting, award-winning, reverse claw mechanism. The stator and rotors are constructed from non-brittle ductile iron materials to ensure long-life.
- Custom systemization design and build service: Using pre-engineered modules together with an extensive CAD capability, we can custom design and build your system installation. This allows you to future-proof your installation for subsequent expansion or reconfiguration.
