Avidity Science Solo S System sets new Sustainability Standard for Laboratory Water Purification
Introduction to the Solo™ S
Avidity Science sets a new benchmark in laboratory water purification with the Solo™ S, the world’s first ultrapure water system featuring reusable plastic cartridges. Now available in Ireland through Mason Technology, this innovative system offers a sustainable solution for research laboratories.
High-Performance Water Purification
The Solo™ S is a benchtop Type 1 water purification system that produces up to 10 liters of ultrapure water per day directly from tap water. Furthermore, its unique design, part of the AvRecycle™ plan, allows researchers to reuse plastic consumables. As a result, it cuts plastic waste by up to 90% and drastically reduces carbon emissions.
Sustainable Reuse with AvRecycle™
Additionally, AvRecycle™ lets researchers return used cartridges to Avidity Science. There, experts disassemble, clean, and refill them. This efficient process reuses plastic components and pretreatment media multiple times, thereby maintaining water quality without incurring environmental costs.
User-Friendly Features
Moreover, the Solo™ S is compact and user-friendly. It features a 5-inch intuitive touchscreen and Near Field Communication (NFC) for easy cartridge identification and traceability. In addition, it supports paperless data logging, thus meeting regulatory compliance and critical research needs.
Advanced Technology
The Solo™ S employs proven Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Deionization (DI) technologies, along with non-carbon reusable pretreatment and mercury-free LED UV. Consequently, it is designed to minimize water and energy consumption, which helps reduce the environmental footprint of laboratories.
“We believe the Solo™ S sets a new standard for laboratory water system sustainability with its unique reusable cartridge design and AvRecycle™,” said Tim McDougle, executive vice president, Global Life Sciences for Avidity Science. “For decades Avidity has focused on driving innovation to match customer needs and the Solo™ S is an excellent example of how we meet both our customers’ critical water quality and environmental impact needs.”
Mason Technology is delighted to bring the Solo™ S to Irish laboratories. “Sustainability is crucial for our research scientists,” said Patrick Healy, sales manager, General Laboratory and Life Sciences Division at Mason Technology. “The Solo™ S not only reduces plastic waste and carbon emissions but also aligns with the growing emphasis on sustainable scientific practices. Therefore, it ensures high water quality while positively impacting the environment.”
