Mason Technology Introduces the New Konica Minolta CL-700A Illuminance Spectrophotometer to the Irish Market
High speed, high accuracy spectral measurement from visible to near infrared light
Mason Technology is pleased to announce the Irish market launch of the Konica Minolta CL-700A Illuminance Spectrophotometer. This next generation instrument succeeds the long-established CL-500A and delivers high speed, high accuracy illuminance and spectral measurement even under extremely low light conditions. It also introduces a significantly expanded wavelength range that supports new application possibilities.
Setting a New Standard in Illuminance Spectrophotometry
An illuminance spectrophotometer is an essential tool used to accurately measure the optical properties of light sources. These properties include wavelength characteristics, brightness in lux, colour, and Colour Rendering Index (CRI). The instrument supports quality control, compliance with standards, and research and development activities across the horticulture, lighting, automotive, smartphone and electrical equipment industries. As LED and OLED technologies continue to advance, precise illumination measurement has become critical to delivering high performance and high-quality products.
Key Features of the CL-700A
- Wide spectral wavelength range from 360 to 1,000 nm
The CL-700A measures both visible and near infrared light. This expanded range enables evaluation of inspection light sources and supports emerging applications in automated driving and security systems. It is also suitable for optical measurements of LEDs, lighting equipment, projectors, image sensors and smartphone cameras.
- Wide illuminance measurement range from 0.01 lx to 200,000 lx
The CL-700A delivers accurate results across extremely low, intermediate, and high illuminance levels.
Low light applications include testing in dark rooms, smartphone camera evaluation, and image sensor response studies.
Intermediate applications include uniformity evaluation of office lighting, projector testing, and multi point measurement setups.
High illuminance applications include outdoor lighting assessment for streets and stadiums, industrial LED light sources, and agricultural or indoor farm lighting.
- High speed measurement for improved efficiency
The CL-700A achieves fast measurement speeds. It measures approximately 5 seconds at 0.01 lx and approximately 2 seconds at 0.1 lx. This is significantly faster than the CL-500A which takes approximately 27 seconds at the same illuminance level. The improved speed supports reduced takt time on production lines.
- Simultaneous multi point measurement using up to 15 units
This capability is ideal for evaluation of projectors and outdoor lighting installations which require large area illuminance distribution analysis across multiple measurement points.
- Compact and integration ready design
With dimensions of 80 by 171 by 35 millimetres, the CL-700A is suitable for handheld use or seamless incorporation into manufacturing equipment and evaluation systems.
- CL-S30 software included
The exclusive CL-S30 software provides simple device control, graphical visualisation of optical characteristics, chromaticity diagrams, and optical spectra.
Commenting on the launch of the of Konica Minolta’s CL-700A Illuminance Spectrophotometer, Michael Kervick, Sales Manager with Mason Technology said, “our customers are developing and testing more advanced lighting and electronic products than ever before. The CL-700A gives them the confidence that their measurements are accurate, repeatable, and aligned with international standards. As Konica Minolta’s partner in Ireland, we are delighted to bring this next generation technology to market and to support our customers with local expertise, calibration services, and ongoing technical guidance.”
Strengthening Ireland’s Manufacturing, R&D, and Quality Assurance Capabilities
With the introduction of the CL-700A, Mason Technology brings Irish customers access to a highly capable illuminance spectrophotometer that supports product development, testing, and quality assurance in lighting, automotive components, smartphone and electronic device manufacturing, and laboratory and industrial research environments.
