- Material: Borosilicate glass 3.3, glass-lined steel, PTFE, PFA, tantalum
Chemical process equipment consisting of glass-lined reactors or mixing tanks with distillation overhead in borosilicate glass can be operated at full vacuum and low pressure. A large variety of chemicals can be processed in such plants due to the highly corrosion-resistant materials used. The design varies between multipurpose product / process-specific setups.
Feeders and receivers are made of glass for smaller units and of glass-lined steel for larger setups. Shell and tube type heat exchangers are built with inner tubes made of borosilicate glass, glass-lined steel, silicon carbide, tantalum or other metals depending on process parameters and other requirements. Such reactor configurations are used for chemical synthesis, distillation, reflux distillation, solvent recovery, rectification and other processes.
Distillation glass overheads for large glass-lined chemical reactors are always customized according to the process and available space. Our 3-D engineering enables the integration/combination of large glass-lined reactors of different suppliers with our distillation glass overheads into a complete reaction system.
Buchiglass overheads are based on our unique, flexible and safe buchiflex glass joint system of DN15 – DN 600 components. These connections are used for glass piping to connect distillation columns, heat exchangers, feeders, receivers and valves.
Benefit from our long-term experience in the manufacturing of safe and reliable glass process equipment.

Buchiglas nutsche filters can easily be combined with our reactors for solid/liquid separation after the synthesis. The inert materials allow safe processing in an inert atmosphere of a wide range of solvents and acids in a completely sealed (buchiflex) glass system under full vacuum.
The slurry is transferred into the filter. The solid content in the slurry is held back by the filter cloth forming a filter cake, while the filtrate runs away to the outlet valve in the bottom plate. The filtering stage ends when the filtrate is of small quantity, which can be shortened by squeezing the filter cake by turning the height adjustable stirrer.
The cake is removed easily from the top by opening the cover and lowering the glass filter vessel, which is attached to the lifting device. The same lifting device is used to lower the bottom for accessing the filter cloth for cleaning and exchange.

Other materials, pressures & temperatures are available
Buchiglas pilot plants are built for pressure reactions as well as for reactions under full vacuum. Different technologies and materials are used, depending on the requested process and process media.
Pilotclave pressure reactors range from 50 – 500 litres and are all customized. To quote such systems we require detailed specifications. Safety is essential with larger-scale systems, especially when doing hydrogenations and other reactions under higher pressure. The degree of automation and process control varies from simple data collection to complete system automation. In most cases, the reaction vessels are jacketed steel or Hastelloy® reactors.
The pilotclave pressure reactors are used for scale-up and smaller productions in pilot plants and kilo labs.
A URS (User Requirement Specification) and PID are very important for basic and detailed engineering and the success of such projects and plants.

Process equipment for pharmaceutical and chemical production
Buchiglas chemical process equipment consisting of glass-lined reactors or mixing tanks with distillation overhead in borosilicate glass can be operated at full vacuum and low pressure. A large variety of chemicals can be processed in such plants due to the highly corrosion-resistant materials used. The design varies between multipurpose product / process-specific set ups.
Feeders and receivers are made of glass for smaller units and glass-lined steel for larger setups. Shell and tube-type heat exchangers are built with inner tubes made of borosilicate glass, glass-lined steel, silicon carbide, tantalum or other metals depending on process parameters and other requirements.
Buchi glass overheads are based on our unique, flexible and safe buchiflex glass joint system of DN15 – DN 600 components. These connections are used for glass piping to connect distillation columns, heat exchangers, feeders, receivers and valves.

Buchi nutsche filters can easily be combined with our reactors for solid / liquid separation after the synthesis.
